Favourite place in Putney. Lovely staff, really nice food, and a warm happy atmosphere. Will definitely go back
Aha!. Just saw on another review that this is a sister pub to the bull and last. that makes a lot of sense! the same great atmosphere and great approach to food. A great spot in an odd location, I imagine that people may pass it by unknowingly - they are missing out! chorizo scotch eggs... say no more
The Prince of Wales is the sister restaurant of the Bull & Last in Gospel Oak. The similarity in philosophy is evident from the blackboard proudly listing the various suppliers of the restaurant, such as Murrays Fresh Fish and Secretts Farm for vegetables
It had been freshly made, the outside was hardly the infamous thick floury crust but golden, crunchy and of single crumb thickness. The pork case was soft and spongy mince, mixed with herbs and reminiscent of Chinese dumpling filling
Very cosy and warmth, table service available if not too busy, and deco amazing! I found my new favourite pub...!
Good selection of drinks and an easy menu.
Fantastic pub, great service and very friendly staff. Already looking forward to my next visit
My partner and I hired The Prince of Wales for my 40th birthday. We hired the dinning area downstairs which is perfect to buy drinks at the bar, toilets nearby and exit door for the smokers.
We had set menu buffet and added some extras which I would recommend. My guests enjoyed the food with favourite being mini burgers.
The staff were lovely and always around for when we needed. The pub has a lovely ambience perfect for different events at a reasonable price.
My guests and I had a lovely time, would definitely recommend.
Enjoyed a delicious fish & chips and tempura battered squid for starters. Big pieces of squid, sweet & tasty mushy peas and a huge, crispy piece of cod. Relaxed and prompt service.
Nice atmosphere and interior, will have to go back some time and test out the range of beers on tap - cool.
Really fabulous food and service. We live opposite, and avoided this place for food (the beer has always been great) for ages. The food and service is now top gastro-pub standard. Chicken liver parfait with pickled watermelon (yes, pickled) is sublime. As is the wild mushrooms with Stilton on toast, topped with a runny-yolk duck egg. Mmmmm
Sunday roast is, for me, all about very pink beef and sticky proper gravy (chef told me he makes his by roasting a whole carcass for 24 hours then stewing it for a further 12 hrs.
So, a change in management, and/or chef, and this place is transformed. This will be our go-to for a loooong time. Keep up the great work folks!!!
My loud friends and I are here every Sunday for the quiz, it's our weekly watering hole. The staff members are beyond friendly and put up with our shenanigans always. The Nachos are to die for. And the quiz is a great time! Cheers from the big roudy table :)
Great pub right really close to East Putney station. Great atmosphere and the staff are very nice and helpful, with a decent selection of beer (nothing out of the ordinary but you'll definitely find something you like). The food is good and despite there seeming to be a lack of chips on the plates, the burgers are big enough to leave you feeling full. Would definitely recommend stopping if you're walking by.
Great little neighborhood pub. Excellent service, great selection of beers on tap and the food was excellent. Perfect old school pub setting. Highly recommend!!
Lovely pub, great decor and friendly staff. Music was a bit too loud when we first arrived but was turned down when the manager noticed we were struggling to be heard.
Good high street pub with food available. Nice atmosphere, good ales and lagers and a comfortable relaxed vibe. Well worth a visit for groups, or fewer. You can settle in and watch Putney go by.
