People complaining about the service in this place are either really are just picking for fault or dealt with very different members of staff. On a personal level (for me and quite a few people I know) Im not keen on being disturbed whilst I eat.
Myself, my fiancé and my son ate here today and I couldn't fault anything. The decor was fantastic, the service was really good and the food came very quickly. And to top it off, it was delicious. I had no issue with the waitress that we dealt with and we would happily visit here again. Reasonably priced too for the area and they have good portion sizes!
Great friendly and welcoming pub. Food looks great but a must are the pork scratching and apple pure dip, great with a pint or three!!!!

Stumbled upon this on a walk from our hotel and the traditional pub caught our eye. Looking at the menu most options are traditional pub food which was appealing.
I went for the scotch egg to start which was pretty good, not too dense and the sausage meat was not over seasoned. Portion size was pretty large so be prepared.
Mains I had the pie of the day which was chicken, ham and leek. You can tell these were handmade the pastry was buttery and light and the filling was jam packed with chicken. Lovely!
Portions although looked small on the plate were really filling and I would just opt for a main and then go for a dessert if not full.
Service was decent no complaints there at all.
We went for the house Merlot (a Chilean) which was really lovely and smooth, too easy to drink.
If you looking for home cooking and a full tummy this is the place!
Added to this review as we came back for the Sunday roast and it was gorgeous- highly recommend. If I was to make any criticism it would be to have some more greens :)
Go early if you want to cauliflower cheese it was sold out when got there :(

A really nice place to enjoy a good meal and of course also an enjoyable beer pint in a cozy atmosphere.
Good, home style food. We had roast chicken and Cumberland sausage, plus brownies for dessert. Even with a big group in, we got a table quickly and our food came out quickly. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. We were a bit sad that there was no Scotch egg on the menu any more, but only because, as Australians, we still haven't tried one - the rest of the country are probably sick of them.

So thus the sticky toffee pudding.
But they don't serve Scott Eggs anymore.
A mixed couple of evening dinners, both pre booked via online reservation systems that were somewhat inefficient. The first nights food was cooked to perfection. The ambience was lively to say the least with a table of 18 people yelling to each other! Dogs are welcome and the service was fair. The second evening meal could hardly contrast more, with the main courses dreadfully overcooked! Some recompense was offered but in all honesty the experience was ruined for us both.
Walked into Windermere town from our Motorhome, after a mooch around the shops with 3 kids and dog in tow it was lovely to sit down and relax. We had to wait half an hour for food as we’d gotten there earlier but nothing a nice cappuccino didn’t fix.
Booth in the window was perfect for the kids, colouring sheets were provided to keep them busy.
Food was lovely, service was great and quick. Couldn’t ask for more to be honest. Will definitely be back!
After a long hike my partner and I were looking for a classic pub comfort dinner. We arrived to this pub and ordered the beef burger and the pie of the day (which was beef and mushrooms). Both dishes were absolutely packed of flavour. Also last but not least we ordered a scotch egg to share which as well, was very tasty. Deffinitely will go back!
Came on a Monday evening in March, service impeccable, very quick and explained about various gf options. Sausage and mash tasty, gf burger tasty too. Will be back. Dog friendly too

Really great food, tasty and served hot. Staff were friendly and helpful, but looked like they needed a little more staff than what they had. Had a lovely time! Chicken burger was especially nice.
