Immer wieder gerne

Some of the dishes here are definitely better than others. Items that are more of Vietnamese origin rather than Thai or Chinese are definitely better. With the exception of their broth based soups, which I found to be functional but not particularly interesting. The aromatics found in good broth based soups just wasn't there. I love their cha lalot and Lemongrass pork. They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options as mains that look very good but that I have had yet to try. Contrary to other reviews, I found the service to be very efficient. They have always been polite and helpful whenever I have gone.

I got the Pho Bo Tai. The meat wasn't that tender, broth wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, and I didn't like how the herbs and beansprouts were already mixed in, rather than being served on the side (which is how I've received it in other Vietnamese restaurants). I also got a Hanoi Mule. It was okay, didn't seem like there was much alcohol in it. Overall, there's a nice atmosphere inside and at the outdoor seating, but maybe I would come back for something else or just drinks.

Umami next door was full, so we went instead to Huong Que. The quality of food was profoundly mediocre. Their business lunch menu had a good variety of vegetarian and vegan options, which I appreciated, but the flavors were bland. I had a rice bowl that just contained rice, boring vegetables like broccoli, and some fake "chicken" shredded up on top (it was really just lightly seasoned TVP, or textured vegetable protein), with no sauce and very little seasoning. I asked for a sauce and they brought one, but it didn't go well with the contents of the bowl. That's food I could make at home, and my version might even be better.

I'm surprised to see some of the reviews on this restaurant. I found the staff friendly and the food super good! The restaurant itself is pretty nice, especially the terrace. I particularly liked the vegan duck.

Of all the things that I am, connoisseur of Vietnamese food is certainly not one of them. I suppose I have avoided the cuisine for so long because so many dishes make use of fish sauce, and asking for it to be omitted can sometimes be a hassle (particularly when some cooks insist it is the cornerstone of a recipe). But when I first heard about Huong Que - incidentally on the first date with my now-dude - I was intrigued. In particular, he spoke of the faux duck dish, which he said is not only exceptional, but also 100% vegan. Naturally, this was welcome news to me. Fast forward a couple months and he decided to treat me to a meal here so I could experience it for myself. We rode our bikes over to the hip yet quaint Bergmannstraße, and since it was a Sunday afternoon, and Easter day no less, the place was relatively deserted. We were seated immediately in a quiet corner, where we were able to take in the decor (dark furniture with splashes of colour, like the bright green ceiling) as well as partake in a bit of people watching. We both ordered the duck - one with peanut sauce and the other with coconut milk - and naturally shared bites with one another. And my goodness, it was amazing. I've only had duck one time in my pre-veg days, and I remember it being rich but greasy. This vegan duck was rich but not so greasy, yet definitely full of flavour, and with a wonderful consistency to boot! I know there are other veg options on the menu, but in all likelihood, I will not ever try them, because this is the only thing I am interested in; you just can't try to one-up perfection.

Definitely sub-par vietnamese food. I really hesitate to leave a one star, but I've eaten here three times and the food is just not good. The service is also terrrriiblllee, super unfriendly, slow.

We have come here twice recently. Both times the food was great. They have a nice vegan menu and offer flavorful food that isn't oily. The one pretty bad downside to this restaurant is the service. To place an order, we feel like we are bothering the waiter. To ask for the bill, they also seem annoyed. I'm unsure why a sit-down restaurant exists if they don't want to serve people. If that's the case, simply have a takeaway restaurant.

We are by no means experts when it comes to Vietnamese food, but we really enjoyed our meal. The food was excellent. We had four different dishes and all tried each other's food. The ribbon noodles and curry sauce was excellent. We would eat here again.

The design is super nice, and any Vietnamese place that is not drowning their food in oil will end up being tasty, so you can't really go wrong when going to such a place, and this place is definitely one. They also have a great variety of vegan, vegetarian and meat options. What they don't have: nice service, care about clients, really nice dishes. We reserved a table for 4, arrived and there were 2 tables fitting for 4. We asked for the one that is near the wall and not part of a table for 8 but didn't get it. After about 20 min, the table was still free. When I asked to go there - the answer was that its reserves still. I asked for how long, the waiter looked at his watch and said "I don't know". I asked to move us there if it's still free before our food arrives, he said he is busy and just went away. As any Friday night it was fairly full, but not possibly to the level not to answer to this simple question. We stayed cramped, and the table remained free until a couple showed up and got that table. Timing: 10-15 min to get out order, 10-15 min to get the drinks, additional 20 min to get the food, that was nice but not amazing and avg price. We paid 46€ for 4 mains, 2 waters, beer and tea.

The food -as far as I could tell- okay but boy, oh boy, I've never had to deal with such bad service before. After having waited to get some menus for about fifteen minutes I went to fetch some from behind the bar myself. We had to wave for the waitress four times until she finally noticed us, having passed us quite a few times without doing so in advance. Ordering was a whole ordeal in itself. I wanted a beef Phô without the slices of meat, trying to explain this to the waitress in both English AND German, she still didn't get it and -some 30mins later- served me vegan Phô with seitan (ew!). The tap water I had asked for didn't come until after the main dishes, same with the starters. Don't eat here! There are many other Vietnamese places in Berlin that offer far better service (I recommend Fam Dang in Mitte!)

I thought the food here was pretty good. The vermicelli bowl with beef was nice, and the flavors were authentic. I wouldn't visit if you're not a dog lover, though, as the owner's dog will most likely come up to you to say hello. ;)

What's it with restaurant owners and dogs in Berlin. And, when you have do leave your dog in the middle of your restaurant, please don't pet him and if you do, please don't serve my food without washing your hands. My god I had some sort of crispy chicken, but in this case KFC would have been a much better choice. It literally dripped Ok, dirt cheap again, but when is someone going to surprise me with some good food? I tend to look at how busy a place is and what kind of customers are there. This place looks okay in a way and the people seem to enjoy everything about it, so maybe I'm just a spoiled little brat from Amsterdam, can be the case I'm starting to think.

We lived next door to this place for a year, and it was one of our favorites. Great selection of vegetarian options. Authentic, complex flavors and fresh ingredients. Nice prices too - a good value for the money. I haven't tried the pho' here myself, but my mom and boyfriend (both connoisseurs) say it's some of the best they've ever had. (For what it's worth, I've been there many times and have never seen anyone pet the dog before serving food!)
