Franconian life at its best. A 'Keller' which means cellar but really a beer garden here. Excellent food and service with beer from the Spezial brewery that makes its own malt and brews its own beer. Super views over Bamberg.

Came here for dinner with some friends on a Saturday night. We had a pretty large group so we made reservations ahead of time. The service and food were great! The prices are reasonable too!
I had the Schäuferla mit Sauerkraut /Wirsing und kloß and it was delicious!! Perfectly flavored and cooked! The beer was great too!
I will definitely dine here again the next time I'm in Bamberg!
This cute little restaurant is located on top of a hill, which made the view of the town great! We sat outside where they have a beautiful spacious courtyard. It was quite windy & cloudy that day, but it was still beautiful. We ordered bratwurst & pork knuckle, and it was quite delicious! The staff was very friendly & spoke English to us, which helped a great amount. Next time we come back, we will probably definitely drive up the hills next time instead of walking but it was a good walk!
Located high on the hill, you can look down on the city of Bamberg from this location. It's another great Franconian/Bavarian biergarten. This one dates back to 1536, and they offer another Rauchbier (a bit less smoky than Schlenkerla's). You can enjoy very nice sunset if you time it right. It's just relaxing to sit here and enjoy typical Franconian dishes. As a common experience, you may have to share a table since it's a very popular place and very crowded especially on the weekend. Also, as usual cash only. You can either be waited on (sometimes slow service), or go to the biergarten counter, pay and get your own food and drink like locals do.
This place is a must-visit every time I'm in Bamberg, not only for the amazing views, but the food is top notch!! Highly recommend the schauferla (roasted pork belly): the skin is roasted to a perfect crisp and the fat in between practically melts in your mouth. The knodeln and sauerkraut that comes with tastes amazing as well.
If you come in a busy summer day, expect to walk for awhile for a table to clear up, and for your waiter to come by to take your food order. Also, don't expect exceptional service. It is Germany after all
We came up here without a reservation, but since it is a little outside the city center, with lots of outdoor seating, and we found a table for the 4 of us. We had drinks and dinner, with lots of others, which slowed the service, but our server was relaxed and efficient. The pretzel was great, had a sweet mustard with it and then 2 white sausages, a light meal along with sharing a tomato salad that was really good. My spouse had their potato salad along with Leberkaese, as did our two friends. The Leberkase was the best he had eaten so far this trip, and the potato salad was also good, with some tartness to it. Overall, they had an extensive menu of mostly meat, but some duck and chicken, tho they were out of that due to how popular the place was over the holiday weekend.

Best view in Bamberg, Place has been there for hundreds of years, beer is great and the food is very good. One of the best place to just sit and relax!
Ganz netter Empfang. Vor allem können Sie sich an die Gäste erinnern wenn man spontan zum zweiten Besuch einkehrt. Supertolles Bier und das Essen in Optik und Geschmack eine Wucht. Ganz toll. Und eine Besichtigung des Kellerlagers war ausgesprochen nett. Vielen Dank und gute Zeit

Wir hatten schon ein wenig Respekt, wegen den vorherigen Bewertungen...
Aber wir waren super zufrieden, tolle Atmosphäre, toller Service, lecker Getränke und lecker Essen. Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist absolut fair.
Wir mussten etwas warten, hatten aber dafür einen echt guten Platz bekommen. Das Essen und das Bier waren echt gut.
Als Biergarten ganz okay. Essen gut aber nichts besonderes. Bei den vielen Leuten eher Massenabfertigung. Personal freundlich und bemüht. Aussicht nur in der ersten Reihe toll.
